World: Malting world confronted with new malt capacities dampening today's markets
Beer consumption is lower in Europe, USA, Brazil, China and Japan, amongst other reasons due to unpleasant winter and early spring weather.
At the same time the brewery and malting world is confronted with new malt capacities, operational/under construction/planned, totalling 1.4 – 1.5 mln tonnes, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their May report.
These capacities will be needed for the future demand - in Africa and Asia, for craft beer and better industry beer - but have a dampening effect on today's markets, the analysts said.
